Temporary Employee Information

The following information will provide you with the answers to many of the basic questions asked when working as a temporary employee and will hopefully help make your experience as a Jason Best temporary a successful and productive one:

Benefits

While temping for JASON BEST you will not only have the opportunity to work for some of Los Angeles' best companies and earn excellent pay rates, you will also accrue vacation and holiday pay as follows:

HOLIDAY PAY: After accumulating a minimum of 600 hours, JASON BEST temporaries are entitled to be paid for up to seven legal holidays per year. In order to receive holiday pay, you must be scheduled to work the full workweek and would otherwise have worked that day if the holiday had not occurred. Also, you will only be paid by JASON BEST for a legal holiday if you are not able to work that day because the company is closed to observe the holiday, and the client company is not already paying you for that holiday. You must also work the Friday before a holiday falling on a Monday or the day before a holiday occurring during a workweek. The holiday pay rate is established by the rate assigned for the entire assignment.

VACATION PAY: Five vacation days are provided for temporaries who have worked 1500 hours within a twelve-month period. The vacation pay rate is established by averaging the pay rates over the 1500 hours worked.

Payroll Information

Since JASON BEST is your employer, not the client company, all discussions of pay rates should be directed to your JASON BEST account executive. We pay your wages and take out all required state and federal deductions. Our pay period ends on the Sunday following the workweek.

In order to ensure fast and accurate payment for completed work, we must receive the following:

1. An original JASON BEST timecard with correct NAME, ADDRESS, UNIT NUMBER and ZIP CODE, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER and WEEK ENDING DATE. The company name, address and attending supervisor's signature must also be completed. Also, please indicate whether or not the assignment is over.

2. Total the hours (straight time and overtime) in the spaces provided. Overtime (1.5 times the regular rate) is calculated for any work over 8 hours in a day or forty hours in a week. Overtime must be approved by your supervisor. If you work over five hours in one day you must show a 1/2 hour meal break unless the workday can be completed in six hours, and you elect to forego your lunch break.

3. In order to process and release paychecks, we must receive timecards by 5:30 p.m. on the Tuesday following the week you worked. We encourage you to mail timecards on Friday evening to ensure sufficient time for processing. Company letterhead will not be accepted. Facsimiles will only be accepted to process your hours. The original timecard must be received before releasing your paycheck. PAYCHECKS WILL ONLY BE RELEASED WHEN WE HAVE AN ORIGINAL SIGNED TIMECARD.

4. Checks will be mailed from our offices on Thursday evenings; however, you can have your paycheck held for pick-up Thursday afternoon or Friday before 5:30 p.m. In order to have your check held for pick-up, you must call by noon on Thursday each week.

5. Check delivery delays are often due to incorrect zip codes, apartment numbers or the lack of having your name on your mailbox. The Post Office will not forward payroll checks to a new address. Please call JASON BEST immediately if you have a change of address. We cannot take responsibility for delays in mail delivery; however, accurate information will help prevent a delay in receiving your paycheck. It will be necessary to charge you a $20 stop payment fee for any replacement checks that are issued due to checks that are lost not as the result of our error. We will not stop payment on any lost check prior to ten days from the date mailed.

Also, if you have an interest in a position with one of our client companies, contact us. JASON BEST is your agent and will handle all negotiations regarding the position, salary and the permanent fee.
